In the state of Texas, every angler aged 17 and older must possess a valid fishing license to fish in public waters. This applies to both boat-based trips and wading fishing in Port O'Connor.

• Youth Exemption: Children under the age of 17 do not need a license.
• Senior Discounts: Texas residents aged 65 and older qualify for a reduced-fee "Senior Resident Fishing License."
• Free Fishing Day: Every year, the first Saturday in June is "Free Fishing Day," where no license is required for anyone.

Saltwater vs. Freshwater Requirements

Since Back Bay Guide Service operates in the coastal bays and flats of Matagorda and Espiritu Santo, you specifically need a license with a Saltwater Endorsement.
